The Rig – R.I.P.

The Rig, 15, a two-toned, blue and silver Chevrolet Blazer, has died of injuries suffered following a spill from a Jerr-Dan flatbed carrier.

During its storied lifetime, The Rig made numerous trips to Louisville to attend the Kentucky Derby and attended the Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University, graduating in 2002.

Most of its 280,000 miles were spent on the nation’s highways. It never got stuck in the snow, had a flat tire, or overheated.

“The Rig didn’t quit,” original owner B.A. McDonald said. “There was never a complaint and no major repairs. Oil changes and new tires were all it needed to keep rolling along.”

The Rig leaves behind its former owner; three children, Mrs. Rebecca Almy of Athens, GA, Mr. Michael McDonald of Houston, TX, Mr. Christopher McDonald of Fairfax, VA; two dogs, and a cat.

No services will be held. The family asks that people buy themselves an oil change in lieu of flowers.
